Trial and error mostly. I've found that for my arm, a Valkerie is my make distance driver when wind isn't a big factor. The DGA Reef is really just an APX mold. Discraft only makes the APX is a soft X plastic. DGA releases the same mold in a DX type plastic. That disc is purely a thrower for me. The Avenger SS is something I threw in the past. My current mold is in Pro-D plastic which beats in and gets flippy well. And only 6.99 to replace. The only other new disc that I didn't throw around you is (I think) the Dynamic Discs Suspect. It's basically a Gator. Pretty slow, very over stable mid.
