Just a quick look back at our Winter Season with 32 leagues and 450 players our top ten were:

Now for the FIFTH Summer MiCPS season we have Geoff Bennett at the top and he is our Michigan State Disc Golf League Summer Champion - Congratulations Geoff
We have also posted our award amounts for the 30 DGLA Player members carving up $ 405.00 in awards and awarded our Michigan State Championships berths. I'm excited that almost all 30 DGLA Player members have received berths and will be up in Ludington this year competing some more. The DGLA player members also adding $150 to the Michigan Disc Golf Course Improvement fund this year.
OK let's now take a look at some of the stats for those who managed to distinguish themselves by climb the leaderboard through this 16 week season.
Here is a summary of the Average stats to make it in the top Ten on Michigan League players:
44.7 # of Rounds
21.9 Average Points per Rounds
28.5 # of Rounds Counted
32.4 Average Points per Counted rounds
7.2 Wins
1.2 Aces
3.0 HLW
919.2 Average Points to be in the Top Ten of the Leaderboard
So if you played on average 2.8 rounds a week, you would have on average 1.8 rounds/week during the 16 weeks, and played at least 3.0 HLWs and won 7.2 of your 28.5 rounds, each averaging 32.4 points per round you should end up with around 920 points and you would be among the top ten in the state.
If you Points per Round average is not that high then add another HLW, hit a few Aces, get in a few more rounds to replace any lower scores that week and you are headed to the Top of the leaderboard.....
Lets see how our Top ten players fared in these categories.
Total # of rounds played.
No doubt the more rounds you play the great the point accumulation is as well as you learn to play in more conditions, read courses, learn from more players and gain more experience hopefully.
samuel smith - with 68 rounds - awesome!
Also included is the Average Points per Total Rounds. Now we only count the highest two rounds per week so this average is not the best to be used to compare players. But the higher the number of rounds indicates the players potential to collect more points and enables them to drop that occasional lower scoring round.
Leaderboard Position Player Points (Total Rounds) (Avg. Pts / Total Rd.)
3 samuel smith 1,060 68 15.59
1 Geoff Bennett 1301 55 23.65
4 Jay B INSANITY DGC 893 54 16.54
2 Taggart Anderson 1,124 53 21.21
7 Scottie Reslock 806 50 16.12
8 Phil "Puttimus Prime" Common 799 48 16.65
9 ken parks 794 34 23.35
5 Jerry "Chilly" Chilson 857 30 28.57
10 Smitty the angry lefty 751 29 25.90
6 derek "d.roc " evans 807 26 31.04
So you can also look at the Average Points per Counted round, but realize one players may only have 1 dropped round and another may have 35 dropped rounds given them a better chance at a higher Points per Round and total points.
Geoff Bennett took the top spot - note based on the way the schedule worked out the max number of Rounds was 33, not 32.
LB Pos. Player Points Counted Rounds Avg. Pts / Counted Rd.
1 Geoff Bennett 1301 33 39.42
3 samuel smith 1060 33 32.12

9 ken parks 794 22 36.09
10 Smitty the angry lefty 751 22 34.14
Note the top positions had the most rounds played on average and so they maximized their points per round:

Geoff Bennett 1,301 55 33 22
Taggart Anderson 1,124 53 32 21
samuel smith 1,060 68 33 35
Jay B INSANITY DGC 893 54 31 23
The bigger difference were in areas of Wins, Aces and HLWs attended.
Highlighted League of the Week - DOUBLE POINTS!!
Besides helping to spread the word about the many different leagues at different courses you can double up on points. This can really give a nice boost to your point total but most players will get at least one HLW so to really take advantage of the HLW, use them as a great reason to travel to other leagues and courses and really maximize you point total.
Way to get out there Scottie Reslock with 6 HLW rounds.
