DGLA MiCPS- Summer Final results

42 leagues - 831 players

So the leaderboards are locked and so it is no surprise who is at the top but I have have posted the top ten below followed by the Berth awards, then the DGLA leaderboard challenges and then I will follow-up this message with more analysis of the stats and details for those who like to see how they managed to get to the top of the leaderboards. Do you always have to Win the leagues? How often do you have to play? Big or Small leagues, Aces & HLW have what affect?

OK lets hit the big one first.

Who is our 2014 Summer DGLA Michigan Disc Golf League Champion?

Well the leaderboard has many great players scattered throughout and many more up and coming players. Not everyone has the opportunity to make it out week after week. But even with different size leagues and different formats the DGLA Michigan Cooperative Point Series has been a great indicator of who are the great and highly active Michigan Disc Golf League players.

I was happy to see that in the top 10 of the overall leaderbaord 6 are DGLA Player level players - Thanks for supporting DGLA, not only by paying in $30 to help fund the prizes and berths but through your ambassadorship on & off the course. I know this because I have had the honor and pleasure of playing rounds with all these players.

So during our 16 week summer season, with 55 league rounds, in which 33 counted ( 23 were dropped, only keep best 2 in a given week), 2 were Highlighted Leagues of the Week (Double Points), 18 Wins and 1 Ace, our Champion accumulated one thousand three hundred and one points. Amazing!

Congratulations to Geoff Bennett our 2014 DGLA Michigan Disc Golf Summer League Champion.

Congrats to all the players who made it out to enjoy even one Michigan Disc Golf league round and much kudos to those who fought their way up the 831 player leaderboard.

So the first two berths went during the Winter season.
1st place was Jay B INSANITY DGC who secured his berth. 2nd place was Justin Dean but he was not a DGLA Player member so the 2nd berth is awarded to Scott Sprow in 3rd place out of 450 players from 32 leagues.
Again congrats to Jay B INSANITY DGC & Scott Sprow on your State Championship berths and a great winter season.

Now we have to thank the Local 101 club who helped DGLA out by donating their 6 berths to enable us to award more berths this year. So for Summer we have not only 4 berths but 10 and we always try to ensure that we have one for the top woman on the leaderboard.

We try and verify that each recipient will be going to Ludington if awarded a berth and that they have not already won a berth from another event. This year we got all the way down to the 16th place but I know that at least 20 of the 29 DGLA Player members received a Berth to the 2014 Discraft Michigan State Championships. That is awesome - See you in Ludington...

In June the most Rounds went to Wade Calvert with 14 Rounds but dropped to 10 rounds in July. This month the max was a bit lower but a few players managed to still play an amazing number of rounds consistently. Sam Smith had 11 in June and July. Scottie Reslock 9 in July and 11 in June. Sheldon Bowen had 13 in June and Wins the Most Rounds in July with 12 rounds.

In June the max # of Leagues played by an individual player was 7 by Sam Hardesty alone at the top of this leaderboard. We had 5 players who had 6 leagues. This month we only have one player, Scottie Reslock with 5 Leagues and there are Two tied at the top with 7 Leagues each; samuel smith & sheldon bowen

So the rules say, "... if there are any ties I will look at the number of HLW played to break the tie."

For most Wins in June we had four players with 4 wins each, Scottie Reslock, Dustin St. Aubin, Ryan Anderson, Walt Smith. Jeremy Kemp won in June with 6 wins. In July the numbers were a little lower with four players having 3 wins each, Scottie Reslock, Walt Smith, Jamie Vincent, Geoff Bennett but again our July most Wins winner is Jeremy Kemp.

July temps were up, somewhat, but the points were down. Max points in June was 318 by DREW Vander Wege. In July samuel smith secured that top spot with 203 points. Nicely Done Sam.
