I couldn't disagree with Brandon more. The approach is more difficult up top for the following reasons...over the fence = fucked, the green to the left = fucked, tee box to the right = fucked. It is a risk reward up top to make it in two. Call it a par five and either lay up your second short of the water and go for the pin for your third or go for it in two for an easy birdie.
Dan Bienkowski Apr 24, 2014I agree with nate. The long pin position is only available to play for tournaments, so why not utilize it?

here's why I feel the short position is harder. Headwind allows you to only get so far off the tee, and you could be far right leaving you a much longer approach towards a downhill to a creek. Go short and you're swimming. lay up and you sacrifice. Where as if we played to long position, there really isn't much in the way or penalty being slightly off target or too far right off the tee, it's a fairly open and straight shot to clear the bridge. The short placement also has OB to the left of the pin with the fence line (which includes the part where the tree has broken the fence, go in the woods at all and you're OB). also, hug the tree line too tight off the tee and that whole area to the left is OB. Your approach could hit one of the trees ad find water as well. I know lots of people like the long placement, I don't have anything against it, I just feel that playing the long at a par 5 as oppose to the short as a 4 makes that hole easier. I have carded a 3 before in the long placement, and had 2 other looks for it. Not saying it will happen again, but the possibility is there. Getting the birdie 3 on the short placement is harder IMO, that is all.
Nate Buban Apr 25, 2014Acceptance is the first step. Then proceed from there.
Brandon Redmond Apr 25, 2014it's not like I would skip the hole, I jist think the regukar position offers those who want to risk it a better reward than those who don't. also a bigger punishment.
Nate Buban Apr 25, 2014Again, I can't disagree more. See you sonday.
