I am going to the Pot Of Gold Tournament in Metairie on the 15th. It's my first one. Entering the novice/recreational division. Anyone else going? Would be nice to meet some of you other guys joining this league. Also, any advice for a first timer at a tournament?
if you were going to try prove to everyone that your the best disc golfer in the area, you would be playing open. because thats not where most all of us are playing, dont worry how you do. there will likely be holes that get away from you, and others where you have great shots. just try to have fun and relax.
Andy hit that spot on. Go out there to meet people, watch good golf & have fun. I do know a couple of guys heading up to the tournament, and if I don't have to work I am going too. We don't have to wait til then to get together. Let me know when your available and we can get a round in.
Take a few extra dollars to spend. The vendors at the events have a wide selection of gear, discs galore. You can find discs in every color, model and weight.
Thanks. I'm gonna head to Highland Road Park tomorrow to do some putting practice and play a round. If anyone is free, come join me. I usually get there between 10:00 and 10:30.
Ben-I have to work tomorrow. Will you be playing at all on Sunday?
As of now I have other commitments Sunday, but I will let you know if anything changes.
I will be attending the Pot Of Gold. It is a great tournament to start your touring career. Advice I would give to a first timer would be take your time. It is easy to feel rushed especially when you have a bad shot and are still farthest out. You paid like everyone else so make the most out of it. ... more
I will be attending the Pot Of Gold. It is a great tournament to start your touring career. Advice I would give to a first timer would be take your time. It is easy to feel rushed especially when you have a bad shot and are still farthest out. You paid like everyone else so make the most out of it. You have 30 seconds so take your time. Throw shots you are confident in. Don't take risks if you don't have to. Don't give up. You may feel like you are playing horrible but you don't know what everyone else in your division is shooting.
Right on Dylan! Also, make sure you have everything you need. Umbrella, stool, snacks whatever. A tournament is an all day event.
Extra pair of socks for between rounds.
