The future may be now! I feel the the non profit issue is a big deal, but not the main issue.
my feeling is that the ADGA should have the non profit status so that all clubs in AK can accept donations to promote local as well as statewide dg initiatives and those donating can write it off on taxes.
Each club can have a balance as well as the ADGA as a whole.

1. a group of people organized for a joint purpose.
2. a connection or cooperative link between people or organizations.
My feeling is that ADGA is the place to bring all AK DG organizations together.
Let's not get stuck on a name, ADGA, ADGC, AKDGC call it whatever you want the question is.....
Do those involved in Anchorage DG want/need a club solely focused on the Anchorage scene?
Whatever your position on the above question,I think that we can all agree that there is a need for what the ADGA has grown into, a statewide organization.
Than let the members vote and decide on who they want.
Thad, what do YOU think?
I think Anchorage needs a Discgolf Club/Association and a "council" of a Representative from every club that want to be involved .Due to the size of our state we will have to sort out the technical issue of having those meetings but it can be figured out.I have been off the mind for a yr o ... more

How we go about doing it will be something to be discussed.
What's the Alaskan Outlaw Discgolf Club up to right now?
The adga is the anchorage club. Name is irrelevant it was created first therefor Alaska disc golf association was available. If there is to be some statewide organization then the individual
Pulled a Boyd there. My iPhone sucks I'll finish the thought tomorrow. But as this is already anchorages club and the majority of the revenue comes from here, I feel it not out of the question to hold our elections based on our existing by laws. If rewrites and restructuring is to happen it should happen after we vote a board in.
If we the majority of the membership chose to turn the adga into an all encompassing statewide club then we will

Finished thought from earlier, presidents if the individual regional clubs can pool capital and resources to better the sport. The statewide club/association council needs to be set up. The handing over of the adgas capital to further the regional clubs agendas shouldn't sit well with the majority of its members (being anchorage based) I'm sure we'd like to see it go towards course development and maintenance in our immediate area, as I'm sure the regional clubs prefer the same
I want course maintenance, new course designs and proposals, bigger tourneys, better players packs, and more participation for anchorage. I'm already confident that the other clubs/associations have that handled. Anchorage is not quite on track
I put the Outlaw club on hold in order to not cause any damage to the ADGA . I felt that if I didnt like how the club was doing I needed to get back involved with the board and work to make changes and improvments
How is the ADGA an Anchorage club when the President lives in Homer?
Well, the bylaws currently state that the ADGA is an Anchorage club. Can't we just create a new statewide org and allow the ADGA to function as it was originally created?
It seems that it would be easier to do so rather than essentially creating a new club and redefining another.
I personally feel that the bylaws are out of date and need to be rewritten. I would rather change a few words in the bylaws and be done with it then create a new statewide organization. I don't see that being very easy and considering its practically in place, why change it? The bylaws haven't been addressed or even looked at since this was brought up originally within the last year. Obviously the bylaws state that the ADGA's mission has been to promote growth within the city of Anchorage. At that time, that was where the only course was in the state! Obviously the mission at the time was to grow it within the city, now look around and think about how many courses have from the explosion of DG in Alaska? The ADGA has certainly outgrown is purpose from what was originally intended in 2004. An "Association" in my mind encompasses the state and all local affiliations. I DO strongly believe that Anchorage already has its own club, they just don't know it.

I hope that my earlier posts haven't given the impression that I'm necessarily in favor of one option or the other, I will continue to be an ADGA member regardless of its stated mission. I'd like more members to chime in with their thoughts...
it would be nice wouldn't it Jeremy? I thought people knew who to use the internet in 2013. Thanks for all your input J-Boyd, keep rockin the chains.
Where can I find a copy or link to the bylaws?
pat, check the ADGA page, brian posted them up
on DGscene. sorry, they are under a post he made.
