NFGA July 24, 2013 Round Summary

I must admit to being remiss; however, given the dismal NFGA attendance this year, I’ve had to concede my priority of following this league to other, more robust, league play around the country.

However, and that aside, I owe a HUGE apology to one player who played his best NFGA round ever on this muggy night in July.

BOB Krask won the round with an impressive fifteen under par (-15), a full four strokes ahead of the league hero, Sammy Jackson.

Too much time has passed to recall too many details of the round, so this entry will be short.

BOB won!

Additionally, the medallion drought was broken with three being earned this night - all in the Automobile Association category. Brad picked one up on four (and in front of spectators) while Sammy made a bit of history that probably went unnoticed to most in attendance. Sure we all saw him strike a vehicle twice on five. A gust of wind carried him a bit further than he anticipated and his throw glanced off the windshield, up into the air, and back down onto the first of three vehicles illegally parked along the right side of the fairway. Oh, but that was not the historic aspect of his endeavor. On sixteen, another vehicle (yes, the same three cars now aligned to the left) would take the wrath of another of Sammy’s drives.

Shaken, but not stirred, our hero would still go on to finish the round in second place.

This round’s anonymous sound bite was, “I wonder what’s going to happen when his magic flip-flops finally wear out?”

Hopefully, the weather will start to cooperate and attendance will pick up for the fourteenth round of the season on August 14. What? Fourteenth round on the fourteenth. And only a day after the Perseid meteor shower peak! Could there be magic in the air?
