Almost lost in the shuffle of the first round excitement, was the announcement of a new sponsor last week. And we are talking about a “huge†endorsement (or should we say endowment) deal for our current leader, MaT Coughlin.
The Church and Dwight Company have sponsored MaT under their Trojan Condom brand; more specifically, under their “Magnum†label. Those that know MaT well, don’t necessarily get the “Magnum “association however, Susan Denner, Church and Dwight VP of sports marketing stated, “We are expecting ‘big’ things out of MaT during the Surgeon’s Cup this season.†Supposedly Mat’s contract includes a renewal clause depending on a final and sustained performance this Wednesday.
MaT has already predicted a win even though he is only one stroke ahead of one of the league’s most formidable adversaries, Sammy Jackson, the current Cup holder. “MaT can shower in his big raincoat all he wants,†stated Jackson. “WHAM-O and I are taking both the Cup and the League this year!â€
