This email is for those playing at Galion for the Masters. That would be Ma40, Ma50 and those playing pro.
As it has been practically every weekend this season, weather COULD be a factor. It seems to change every four hours, so it's hard to get a handle on it. Currently as I type this, they are calling for rain, but not until 6:00. Hopefully this holds true, but I have seen projections for a light rain in the early morning hours and heavier stuff as early as 4:00 in the afternoon. With that in mind, I have set the cards for mostly three per tee. I had opened registration back up last night to allow a couple to enter so I could level out each pool, but wouldn't you know it, in those few minutes, an extra person slipped in so now we will have one foursome in the MP40 division. But we will do all we can do to keep things moving in order to beat any impending weather.
Check in tomorrow will be at the new shelter up by the main parking lot. We will get your shirts to you there. There will be no players meeting as I'll try to cover everything here. Payouts will be done at the other shelter where we normally do them. Winners in each division will receive a set of cornhole boards. Because of late entries and some player movement, I now find myself one set short of what I need, so if you win one of those divisions and want to sell the boards back to me, I will give you $100 for the first winner who offers to sell it back to me. I just need one set, so it's the first one to offer.
Only the MP40 will be playing the long tees. Not every hole has a long tee and for the most part, the long tee is not much longer than the short if you haven't played here before. We will not be using the long tee on holes 8 and 10. OB's will be on your electronic scorecard, but the same as past years. It's important to realize that there is a "wildlife" area that borders holes 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9. That area is marked with paint. Both orange and white paint was used (they ran out of orange). The second "wildlife" area borders hole 20 and 21. Again it is marked with paint. In addition to the wildlife areas, there is a parking lot on #1, the road bordering holes 3 and 4, (use the guide wires for reference). Number 7 is basically dry, but surrounded by water and long of the basket is OB. there is OB painted behind the basket on #10, water on #11 and #12. When you come out of the woods on #13 there is a guardrail. That guardrail is in play and the road and where painted is OB. This in essence gives you more room. On #14 there is a line to the right above the creek and the water long. #15 has water left. Same for #16. Road is OB on #19 as is the high grass long. The entire left side of #20 is OB and treacherous, do not go left, it's like automatic lost disc and possibly worse. It is marked with paint. On #21 the long grass on the left is OB. Plus the wildlife area on #20 and #21. #23 has long grass to the right which is OB and possibly the road. Finally number 24, the guardrail left and parking lot is OB. Always refer to your scorecard for reference.
Pro's will be paid via paypal this year as Marnie has other responsibilities away from the course to attend to. We all know the wife handles the important stuff like that.
We will have pizza available at lunch, two pieces plus chips, water and a snack item for $5. We will use the new shelter at the parking lot to distribute that.
This will be the last Masters at Galion. Been wanting to move elsewhere but decided to finish up our ten years here. So love it or hate it, next year will be elsewhere and fewer spots available. Thank you for being a part of everything, we appreciate you. Have fun, Find your MOJO and be safe on your way there.
