It feels like this event was just born and now we’re already in our 8th year. Fraction has kicked off the season for us for a few years now and has become the iconic home opener. The entire podium for MPO was in grade school when this event started with its official title back in 2019. That not only shows the passing of the generational torch but also the strength of the community. We push our kids to be better than us. The next generation of disc golfer has absolutely arrived. These kids are athletic, grinding out practice rounds, and putting in the time to perfect the game and it shows more and more every year. We are seeing this trend in every division offered. We feel like our entire community has leveled up and is taking this sport to places we haven’t seen yet! Our hats off to you and we look forward to seeing where you can take this sport!
We had the pleasure of hosting our very own John Knudson in his first MA80 divisional this past weekend. We tell him every time we see him how much we appreciate him leading the way and showing us just how much fun we can have with this game. John averaged 9 points above his rating!
Larry Auld takes the MA70 division win!
In MA65 Tom McManus is the man to beat as he takes down yet another win in his lucrative career! Tom averaged 25 points above his rating and took it down by 8 strokes.
Local legend Jerome Harvey reigned in MA60 with a 5 stroke win over the field averaging 56 points above his rating.
We had a two horse race in MA50 with Mike Albertini and Shannon Berryhill. These guys went into a two hole play off in the wind where Mike took it after two holes. Both shot -14 for the event and averaged 48 and 71 points above their respective ratings.
Bill Z becomes a two time winner of this event in MP50 following his W in 2024. Averaging 43 points above his rating!
FP40 saw a 12 stroke win from Chicagoland disc golf legend Barrett White!
FPO saw a new champion this year with now touring Pro Addison Woodard. Addison took down the division by 7 strokes with her -6 event finish averaging 12 points over her rating!
Dana Brewbaker got the win on her Birthday weekend in FA1 with a one stroke win, averaging 30 points over her rating!
Jess Matlock wins by 3 in FA2 averaging 32 points above her rating!
We were joined by a couple from Michigan this weekend! Anna Haynes took down the FA3 division by 7 strokes while averaging over her rating by 31 points!
Lockport Local Heather Hantelman took down FA4 by 3 strokes while averaging 24 points above her rating!
Lockport Local Anthony Rahn shot MA2 rated disc golf in his first ever PDGA event. Winning by five strokes in MA4.
Chris Musica and Rich Fox went stroke for stroke and had a 4 hole play off to determine Chris the winner in MA3. Both well above their ratings!
The other half of the Michigan couple, Colin Haynes, also takes down his division in MA2. Colin averaged 38 points above his rating!
ANTHONY ARREDONDO! Remember this name! Took down the MA1 division by 8 strokes with his -17 1013 rated win! Anthony took down this event last year in MA3 and has put in major time to work on his craft. Keep going dude!
MA40 sees another Lockport Local and first PDGA event win with Dave Ramos! After playing for 30 years Dave finally decided to get his PDGA number and start officially competing! He played and won his first ever event by two strokes and averaged 960 rated golf!
Reigning MP40 man to beat, Dana Vicich, took down the division by 7 strokes and averaged 1014 rated golf!
Last but certainly not least, Lockport Local Gavin Bednar takes down the MPO division by 5 strokes with 1042 rated golf with a Birdie, Eagle, Birdie finish! We have watched Gavin grow up at Dellwood and seeing him take this event down had us looking back on the last 13 years of dedication to this place and this sport. Gavin Bednar and his abilities are a shining example of why this is all worth it. Gavin has become one of the most dedicated disc golfers I have ever witnessed at The Canyons. Congrats Gav, keep it up!
