Thanks to Pete Weckesser, Adam Kiess, me, and maybe some other mysterious do-gooder, the short pads have all been shoveled at Davis. I'm going to drop a couple bags of ice melt on the pads tomorrow and see if we can get rid of any remaining ice. But plan on some less than perfect pads for leagues on Saturday. And some trail blazing down the fairways. We're only going to play the short pads twice thru, so that'll help with speed and also to get the fairways broken in. The two times I've been to Davis in the last couple weeks has had a juvenile moose hanging around (one mini charge). So eyes up.
Week 5 Recap:
Another small group as we battled several inches of fresh powder. But for the first time, we trotted out there as one united. We were a 7 pack shoveling, sweeping, spotting, and birdying machine. It was actually quite enjoyable and it felt more like a casual round. Took longer than normal, but we shoveled and swept every pad as we went.
Scores naturally distributed by pool. The 4 A pool guys all finished within 1 stroke of each other, 2 at -7, and 2 at -6. The lone B pooler shot even, and the two C pool dudes followed along over par at the end of the round. But scores were less important than tossing plastic into fresh powder and vibes. Nobody had to be asked to shovel or sweep or spot. Everyone just jumped up and took turns. It was great to throw with you Scott, Adam, Cody, Eli, Killian, and Travis.
With the large group we didn't come close to any star frames. The closest we had was 4 birdies on holes 7 and 17. Holes 3, 4, 10, and 13 finished without a single birdie.
Kiess had solo birds on 8 & 11, and had the most birdies in a row for 15-18. Killian had a solo on 12. Scott solo'd 14. Killian and Dan were the only players without a bogey on the day (which got them the 1 stroke separation in A pool).
