Thanks for the catch, Steven. We’ve changed the About section to shift that donation away from the Pass-Through fees. The donation will still happen and it won’t affect or detract from payouts or players pack values.

I fail to understand how taking money out of the entry fee that should be going to payouts and players packs doesn’t detract from payouts or players packs? I get you guys want your tax write off for charitable donations but there’s better ways to go about it IMO.

The reason why that donation won't detract from payouts or players pack values is because we're already returning more value to the event than required. It's ok if you don't understand the financial side of this event. I'm happy to break it down for you though:
With a $59 entry (for most divisions), there is a 100% required payout of the net entry fees ($59 minus the pass-through fees which gets us to $49) in players packs and prizes. Players packs for this event are a premium plastic MVP disc, hat, and 2 month subscription to Pulsea. If we use InfiniteDiscs and DiscHub for retail values, we're looking at a players pack value of $55 ($20 + $20 + $15 - if you use the more conservative annual Pulsea monthly rate instead of their $40/two-month rate).
Now, that would be good enough if the event was simply trophy-only, but this one also has additional payouts of $10/player for the top 25% in each division! That's conservatively over $65/player in value which is above and beyond the PDGA requirements for this B-tier AND we're donating $1/player to an organization that provides tools for educators and youth programs to introduce them to the sport while promoting youth fitness.
We would love to see you at the event, but we won't take it personally if you choose to skip this one.
