Forecast is showing snow for the next 24+ hours. Any interest from anyone for a late night $5 dubs round tonight to play/clean off the teepads? If not tonight, we may do a delayed start tomorrow so we can clean off the teepads at 11:00 am and maybe start the round at 11:30 or noon. Text me if anyone wants to throw tonight and I'll see if we get enough for a dubs match. I'll pick up a 12 pack of shovel helper lubricant.
Last Saturday had great weather, it was like 80s and I was loving SoCal. But for 7 of you it was hella cold when you teed off at the goon in double digits below zero. I told a guy at Huntington Beach DGC and he thought ya'll were nuts playing in the cold and snow. I agreed with him so he'd think I was a cool Cali guy too.
A pool had 3 chilly warriors and they played on the same card. At the midpoint Groves took the helm of the card with his -5, Killian was preheating his round with his -3, and Frank was thinking about Hawaii while shooting -2. Second half they all heated up with Flannery pulling even with Scott for the round shooting a hot -6 on the back half (solo bird on 1). Groves got a turkey on holes 11-13 (the only birdie on 11 or 13 in the field, also solo bird on 3). Costales got some turkey action on holes 14-16. Killian and Scott were the only players in the field without a bogey. SG and KF finished at -9, while FC finished 3rd overall with his -5.
B Pool teed off with C pool and had a newcomer to the B pool world. Weslee and Brown battled for the lone B pool payout. In the first half Moon had the lead at -2 with his 2 birdies (including the solo bird on 8). Nolan tossed a double bogey but cleaned up his first half with 2 late birdies to get to even. The second half started rough for both of them with Allen's buddy getting a double bogey on 11, before getting the partial recovery with a birdie on 12, and the late guy who held up everyone's start getting bogeys on 10, 11, and 12. In the end WM took down the pool shooting even on the round and NB finishing at +1.
C pool also teed off on hole 1 with B pool and had two players. Travis stood atop after the front 9 at +1. He had one bogey and the rest pars. Wright peppered his scorecard with a birdie, 2 bogeys, and a double in the first half for +3. Looks like they played back and forth in the back 9 with each of them taking some bogey strokes, but Martin was able to get his first birdie of the round on hole 16 and finished as the C pool winner with +3. Eli cleaned up a lot of his bogey strokes but wasn't able to take advantage of any birdie opportunities and finished his round at +5.
Shoutout to Pete for putting in some Davis shovel work over the weekend. I'll probably be out there Monday to see if I can finish off the short pads and maybe we can go Davis shorts 2x for week 6. Stay tuned friends
