Just want to give a BIG thanks to doug watson for running fri nite skins league and all the other league admins that i played in this winter, especially shawn mascorro for ricky weeks putting, john minicucci for bobis and sunnybrook putting, foz for running the micops and ypsi leagues and providing the opportunity to earn points as well as cash making this past winters discin a helluva good time!
thanks to all that came out to join us in braving all the elements on friday nites and the mild weather we had too, sorry i took so much of your $$ LOL..but yes this was an AWESOME winter for disc golf as i dont think i missed but a few days of playing all winter long! with the winter micops ending on saturday and now having a lead for 1st in the home stretch with only 2 leagues left to play it appears i may hold the spot and secure a berth through micops so i am more than happy to see another fellow friday nite player be rewarded with the berth we have for the league.
At the beginning of the winter leagues and micops series i had no idea i would reach the top of the leaderboard and stay there as i didnt think i was that good of a player yet but when i saw the battle brewing to stay in the top 10 with some of my fellow players i set a goal for myself to try and earn the #1 spot on the board. in the process of setting that goal i believe my game improved drastically this past winter, that being said i would recommend to anyone looking to improve their game to set some goals and STAY CONFIDENT while trying to reach them, if/when and no matter how often you lose or have a rough round NEVER SAY TO YOUSELF "I HATE THIS GAME"...if you want to get better play as much and as often as possible and listen to every bit of advice you can pick up along the way, do your field work and try different techniques, i believe PUTTING AND UPSHOTS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT and difficult aspects of the game of disc golf so play harder courses and work on your short game, getting out of trouble and putting! spend time watching and if possible playing with others who have strengths that are your weakness, learn from it and if it works then ultimatley try to duplicate what you see others do on the course, also NEVER WORRY ABOUT ANYONE ELSES GAME BUT YOUR OWN when your playing in a league or tournament, this game is as much mental as it is physical and the physical part is easy! it hard enough controlling your own thoughts when you have a bad throw, make a shot that goes o.b., or take a bogie or worse so dont let what happens to others or the negative attitude of their game affect what YOU want to accomplish, if you struggle then struggle MORE, TRY AGAIN and get over that bad shot, NO PAIN NO GAIN!!
