Labor Day at Deer Lakes wasn’t about rest — it was about hard work, high stakes, and bragging rights. Thirty-seven players battled through the holiday heat, and while the grills were firing up across the country, this crew was grinding for glory on the course.
In the Open division, Nate Langer and Chris Lachendro put on a show, trading birdies and clutch putts before finishing tied at -2 (64). Neither gave an inch, and they walked away splitting the $43 payout — a perfect way to celebrate a day dedicated to hard-earned rewards.
The Advanced division belonged to Joshua Dymun, who put in a blue-collar performance with a steady -3 (63) to claim the top spot and $20. It was all about precision and patience, and Dymun delivered both when it mattered most.
In Intermediate, Shane Hughes clocked in and got the job done. His even-par 66 was as steady as it gets, earning him the win and a $17 payday — proof that consistent work pays off.
For the Recreational division, Greg Close put together a solid +4 (70) to earn the win and $15, grinding through a competitive field with a performance worthy of the holiday spotlight.
The big highlight of the day? Sam Triest stole the show, hitting the birdie pot with clutch birdies on holes 2, 8, and 14, cashing in a massive $84 payout — a Labor Day bonus if there ever was one. Meanwhile, Hank Lilienthal dialed up some serious precision, sticking it close on hole 17 to claim the CTP and $24.
No aces this week, but between tight finishes, huge payouts, and holiday heroics, the Labor Day Special delivered one of the season’s most memorable showdowns.
