Good afternoon players!
Thank you for signing up for the Northern Illinois Open presented by the Birdbrain Disc Golf Club! I am glad you are joining us for our flagship event of the summer. This email serves to provide information & preparation for all of us to have a fun & successful weekend.
WE HAVE A PLAYER'S PARTY / EARLY CHECK-IN! Join us over at Shady Oaks Park tomorrow (Friday) night for a putting game to play for a basket! We will have food & player's packs for Amateur players who wish to pick it up & check-in for all players so you can just worry about being at your starting hole come Saturday morning. Hope you can join us!
Day-of check-in will be at your starting course on Saturday between 8am-9:15am. A Pool will be at Shady Oaks & B Pool will be at Rolling Knolls to start. Be at your starting hole at 9:28am for a two-minute warning & a tee-off at 9:30am. The remainder of the tentative schedule can be found on DiscGolfScene. There is no players meeting, this email will act as that!
The PDGA digital scorecard will be used as the official scoring method. All players are required to keep score. This is where you will find the OUT OF BOUNDS listed for each individual hole. Please note that there may be marked areas or drop zones that are NOT in play for the tournament. The digital scorecard is the bible - what it says, goes! If there is a discrepancy, please play a provisional & consult with your course director before submitting scores.
The PDGA Digital Scorecard Access Code is: NIO25 - Do not forget to finalize scores after each round! (Everyone must do this!)
Parking is limited at both courses, so please be courteous when parking. If the main lots are full, please park off N Oltendorf Rd. near Oakhill Elementary for Shady Oaks overflow parking (near Holes 12-14) & please park in the Hilltop Elementary parking lot for Rolling Knolls.
Please note that because Rolling Knolls is Forest Preserve property, the rough out there does not get trimmed. It is thick off of the fairways. We will have spotters on many of the longer holes out there helping find your shots, but PLEASE keep both eyes open for all shots on your card so that time is not wasted looking for discs & scores are not penalized for lost disc penalties. Don't forget to thank your spotters!
Payouts will be distributed for AMs after the completion of the event on Sunday at Rolling Knolls through Dellwood Disc Golf. Pros will be paid out to the PayPal address they signed up unless otherwise notified. Top 45% in each division of AMs are paid out & Top 40% of Pro Divisions.
CTPs will be Sunday. Ace pot comes in at $640 thanks to carry over from prior events. You can sign up day of for the ace pot at check-in.
Starting holes will be posted tomorrow after the close of registration on the PDGA event page.
Please note that we are closely monitoring the weather this weekend. Saturday looks potentially threatening with heavy t-storms & we want to make sure everyone's safety is the top priority. Please keep an eye on your email & DiscGolfScene for updates and announcements. Your understanding & flexibility are greatly appreciated as we navigate through any potential weather threats with your best interests in mind.
