Hey Nick, I think once a Am player excepts cash the only preventative is being able to play Am's related events would be - As a result of losing amateur status, you no longer qualify for Amateur-specific majors, such as the US Amateur Disc Golf Championship or Am Worlds. If your player rating remains low enough (typically under ~955–970, depending on tier), you can still compete in amateur divisions at A-, B-, and C-tier events, but as a registered Professional
