Since apparently the word being passed around is that I deleted my question in regards to the lack of payout of scrip on-site, I will post again.
To those who didn't get scrip at the end and swore they were playing in a tournament that stated they were playing for something who come back to check this, yes the original listing said it was for scrip redeemable on-site, the TD edited this after the tournament had ended.
I don't know why they tried to hide the original payout promised, or why they deleted my original question regarding the lack of payout instead of just addressing it. I really don't know how it gets resolved now for the 30-40 players who were supposed to earn something that may be 5-6 hours away from any shop this TD may open in the future.
To the TDs saying they paid $80 on the player pack that they gave us and that's why there was no payout, why not just post that under my question instead of just attempting to delete the evidence of what was listed and delete any questions about the original posting?
If the tournament is for a player pack and no scrip based on performance, post a breakdown of the player pack and how you attempt to justify the value instead of bait and switching players into thinking they are playing for something more than rating.
You need to list the full player pack with cost breakdowns if that is all we are playing for. Mention the exact disc molds that are in the player pack and what they are valued at, mark down you are saying this water bottle is supposedly $30 and this is $20 liquid chalk so we can decide if we agree on the value you are stating for our money.
We as players know and understand the player pack items are almost always going to be the junk your shop is having a hard time selling. We sign up accepting that knowing we're at least playing for scrip on some discs that are wanted in our bags knowing we're basically donating money to the TDs for their hard to move product. We are happy to take care of your shop when the scrip payouts or player packs are there to justify the entry.
The TDs who fill their tournaments instantly are doing so because they are taking care of the players, not trying to squeeze them for every penny by denying refunds to players who drop or promise them things that won't be getting.
Running tournaments is not a get rich quick business method, this is a relationship business. Tournaments that are ran well, offer great player packs or are generous with their payouts get the return business and we will encourage all of our friends to play. The flipside of that will cause us to recommend everyone avoid the tournament like the plague.
Withholding 75% of the money from someone's entry into the tournament if they drop from 2 weeks out from the tournament is a bit crazy if you want people to still sign up for these in the future.
Be clear with the expectations for the tournament, be clear with the payouts for the tournament. When mistakes are made, own up to them and communicate with the the community and people will understand and work with you on it. Just do better next time please.
Attempting to delete the evidence after the fact to act like a mistake was never made is just a bad look.
