We are just one week away from the 5th year of running this event (4 years already since the first one!?!?!) This email will cover most of the information needed for the event.
To start, these are some reminders that the course management asked me to relay to all the players.
1) Everyone who is on the course as part of the event, including caddies and spectators, need to complete an event specific waiver, even if you have done a sky high waiver before. These will be turned in at check in to then tournament staff for you to get your tournament wristband. Wristbands can be worn on your person or your bag. We will have tournament waivers available at the event, but if you can print it out and complete it beforehand, it will speed up the process for check in and make the morning smoother. The waiver is attached.
2) Make sure you are parking on the blacktop pavement. Do not park on the dirt.
3) There is no smoking on the course or patio. Smoking is allowed in the parking lot.
4) Management asked me to remind everyone that outside alcohol is not allowed. Sky High has beer and wine for sale per their ABC license.
Ok, Now onto the tournament stuff.
I have attached the caddy book. Please read through it and let me know if there are any questions as soon as possible so I can address them. Note that there are two layouts we are playing. Layout A is longer and uses normal course holes 1-18. Layout B is shorter and uses normal course holes 1-9 and 11-27. Saturday divisions will play layout A in the morning and B in the afternoon. Sunday will play B in the morning and A in the afternoon. This year we will be using the yellow Innova tee signs to note our tournament holes. The innova signs will refer to the tournament hole numbers, which will align with your starting hole. For those that have not played the meltdown before or those that need a refresher, for the A layout, the tournament holes and normal course holes will be the same. For the B layout, the back tournament holes will be normal holes 19-27, so tournament hole 10 will be normal course hole 19. In short, if you do not see a yellow Innova tee sign, that hole is not in play! I have attached a picture of one of the tee signs so you know what to look for. Furthermore, both layouts are live on Udisc.
Check-ins: Every player must check in at the tournament table. We will be set up on the patio with the Innova table covers. Remember that you need to come check in with us. No one is allowed to check in for you. All amateur players will receive a custom tournament stamped premium Innova disc and a tournament logo towel. Pro players need to confirm their paypal address upon check-in. If you opted for the burger lunch from the Sky High grill, I have your name on a list that I will give to the staff so they will have your lunch ready for you when you finish the first round.
Scoring: All players are required to keep score. Electronic scoring is the primary method. If you haven't yet, I recommend downloading the PDGA Live app. This will allow you to easily log into your scorecard each round. If you do not have electronic scoring, a paper scorecard can be provided to you. It is your responsibility to submit the scorecard to tournament central at the completion of your round.
Playoffs (if needed): If there is a tie for first place in any division, the tied players will go to an aggregate playoff using normal course holes 10-19-18 in that order. After the completion of the 3 holes, the player with the lowest score will be the winner. If scores are still tied, the remaining players will play in sudden death using the same hole sequence until a winner is determined. Any other tied for places that have a trophy will be determined by sudden death using the same hole sequence.
Some changes from last year: There have been a couple changes to the course design this year. Hole 1 will stay in the left position for both rounds and there is a mando right of the tree on the left. Hole 3 will have a double mando, but the boundary on hole 5 no longer plays as OB. Hole 9 will have a long and short position, where the long will be up near the normal basket position, and the short will be tucked behind the trees similar to last year with the mando left being in play both rounds.
I will be doing a virtual players meeting On Wednesday at 6 pm to go over the caddy book and answer any questions that are sent to me. We will be setting lines for holes 5 and layout A 10 on Thursday and finishing the course setup on Friday. If you have any questions, email them to ME! Do not hit reply all. You can also post them on the disc golf scene page. The caddy book, waiver, and tee sign example are all posted to disc golf scene as well. Look forward to seeing new and familiar faces and having a great tournament weekend!
