I havent waitlisted for an event before, so how does it work? Do I need to come the morning of to see if someone doesn’t show up? Or will you let me know ahead of time kind of thing? Thank you guys for the help!

You will be promoted from the waitlist as players drop out. You are more than welcome to show up on the morning of the event in case someone doesn't show. Should a spot not open up, you will be refunded your full registration.
