I just heard that the DiscCatcher for hole number 3 at the Cadyville Course in Plattsburgh, NYwas stolen last week. Thieves dug up and removed the hole from its base on Wednesday night March 30th 2011. They also tried to steal the practice basket but the ground was still too frozen for them get the basket loose.

I’ve heard that Center Chains disc golf course in Waterbury, VT had 3 baskets stolen last year.

Does this sort of crime happen a lot in other parts of the country or is this a North Eastern phenomenon? What happens to the stolen baskets? Are they sold for the metal or reused by the thieves for their own course?
