We're going big ya'll. Get your Venmo to me today and let's do fun plastic throwing. This will likely be our last Goon XL of our series. Week 9 we'll play Kincaid, and week 10 will possibly be Goon OB extravaganza (stay tuned).
For this week we're going to have some special rules. Everyone clap and say yippee. Woohoo's will also be acceptable.
Hole 1/10. If your lie is in the marsh (short and left of the basket) and you are unable to play your lie, you must proceed to the drop zone marked with green paint on the right of the fairway with a 1 stroke penalty. This is extremely punishing for hole 10, sorry. You have the option to get your feet wet and play without penalty. There is no casual relief if you disc is in the marsh.
Hole 2. An island has been marked with green string. Edges of the island are helped by some white stakes. But the line is the OB delineator. Please don't pull on the line as the stakes aren't driven into the frozen ground very far. If your drive does not come to a rest inside the marked island, proceed to the drop zone with a 1 stroke penalty. Drop zone is marked by two orange flags next to brown "no mow zone" sign. Don't forget you get 1 meter relief from the OB line if you are in the island.
Hole 11. The marked island is now a OB zone. If your disc is in the OB island, proceed to the same drop zone as hole 2 with a 1 stroke penalty. If your disc is safe, but in water. You cannot take casual relief if it creates a new lie that causes you to take a stance in the OB area! Your options are to get your feet wet or proceed to the drop zone with a one stoke penalty. Sorry x2.
Hole 7/19. If for some reason your disc is in the lagoon and is not playable. Take a new lie on the asphalt walking path at the point where your disc last crossed that path with a 1 stroke penalty. If the ice will support you, play your lie without penalty. The ice seemed fine today.
Hole 19. Par 3 playing from teepad 6 to 7s yellow basket. After playing hole 18 (short basket on 9s fairway) proceed to teepad 6. There is a mando left of the tree marked with pink tape at the base(in front of 6s yellow basket). Your disc cannot cross rightside of that tree. The restricted area is marked on the ground with green paint and extends past the arrow to infinity. If you miss the mando, throw from 7s teepad with a 1 stroke penalty. This is to try and keep everyone out of 8s fairway. Do not throw until 6 and 7s fairways are clear and safe.
Hole 20. Par 4 playing from teepad 8 to 9s yellow basket. This is the same XL hole we played prior where only Scott and Robin got the birdie. Lots of the rest of you took BIG numbers. haha. Do not throw until 8 and 9s fairways are clear and safe. After completing this hole, continue play on hole 1.
Week 7 quickie recap:
Purpero led everyone with his -9. Rated 1 billion or something. I dunno, might be a PDGA record. His first win in forever and I'm frankly tired of talking about it or celebrating it. Killian did some stuff too and took 2nd. Black took 1st in B pool. Neither you or I are surprised. Naz and Rus were a ridiculously distant second. Like waaaaaaay back. And for the biggest news of the winter, Lukas didn't win, or even get second. Maybe he played left handed. Scott Haviland unhibernated to take first with Wright taking down second in C pool. Other people in all pools played well or poorly, and got money or didn't. I'm sure it was all very special and newsworthy.
Some holes played harder than others. Some people did cool things on cool holes. Others have stories, but you'll need to ask them. Pads were great. Thank you James and Scott.
