Alex, Mike owns Sun King Discs, so using his own vouchers for CTP payouts means people spend the money at his shop. Hey I’m not the rule makers, but it is not prohibited, personally I think it shouldn’t be allowed, but MANY tournaments do this, Tyler w/ Soar Discs does it and several I’ve played up north. I think where you see cash payouts is when the tourney TD does not own their own shop. Despite it not being my personal preference, there’s reasons to do it, CTP’s would not be nearly as abundant otherwise as part of the value is that some of the cost can be recovered in sales. Sell the vouchers for a few less than total value, win-win.

@ Uncle Fester...you are correct. Also, the main reasons we do it is two fold; players and sponsors used to donate CTPs to tournaments. That almost never happens anymore so instead of going without any CTPs, we use this hybrid method. In addition, and more to your point about not allowing it, why is it ok for Ams to receive cash for CTPs, but not payout? We prefer to keep everything on the Am side to prizes in the spirit of true amateur. To be clear, we do cash payouts for Pro divisions.

Oh dude....don't get me started with that craziness of why the pdga thinks AMs can get cash for CTPs & Aces, but nooooo...payouts have to be prizes only...because we are like the kids that should only get toys and not gift cards/cash. lol! Receiving cash payouts should not be the only differentiating thing between pros & ams...anyways, thank you for doing the CTPs, didn't even think about that even at leagues we've seen a massive decline of donations, heck let alone people showing up for work days!!
