Hey All!
Upon careful consideration of all of our options, we have had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the final round of TDTMXIII for MA2.
Our team monitored the weather for over 2 hours and decided that we would need to make a final decision to proceed or cancel no later than 5pm. When the deadline approached our lightning detectors were still picking up strikes less than 5 miles from the course.
At that point I called the PDGA Event Support staff to verify the PDGA rules regarding weather delays and to check for any changes to those rules. After a brief conversation highlighting all of the necessary event specifics, it was both the conclusion by myself and the PDGA that in the interest of all MA2 competitors, the best path forward was to cancel the final round. To be clear, the PDGA requires that there be no lightning strikes within 30 minutes of the start time less than 15 miles from the course.
What’s Next?
The scores for MA2 after Round 2 will become official. This did result in a tie for 1st Place, which will be a rare instance where no clear winner was determined in a multiple round event.
In the next 48 hours I will adjust the scores, complete the TD Report and start issuing the payout via online gift cards for SunKingDiscs.com. There will be no “shipping penalty” and we will cover the shipping costs of vouchers of $75+. We will also process the payouts for CTPs and Ace Fund.
