PLEASE READ VERY IMPORTANTBBB UPDATE
Well folks the weather is quite a factor for this weekend.
Please be patient and realize decisions being made aredifficult but necessary. Furthermore, thisis an A tier PDGA event, which adds more to consider based and a magnitude offactors. My final decisions are made inhopes of creating the best competition possible under the currentconditions. I ask you to go into the weekendwith optimism. Optimistic with the fact, this will be an event you will remember for the rest of your life! I will be sending out more details pertaining to the overallevent Thursday morning.
Here is what I know:
1. WE WILL PLAY THIS WEEKEND!!!
2. Battle Park will NOT be used. This particularstyle of course will not be safe to play or drive to under the projectedweather conditions.
3. Am Pool will play Farmington twice on Saturday,1 round at Sunset on Sunday.
4. Pro Pool will play 3 rounds at Sunset. Pro pool is not being assigned Farmington dueto the fact players in the pool have had a chance to safely prepare for thecourse.
Here is what I DO NOT know:
1. What the weather will do.
2. If there will be snow on the ground.
3. If the Pro Pool will play 1 round each day Fri-Sunor 2 rounds Saturday and 1 on Sunday.
Here is what I’m doing to address this:
1. Tee Pads have been salted.
2. I will arrive to Sunset Park on Thursday at noonto assess the course and clean tee pads.
3. My goal is to notify the Pro Pool by 2:oo p.m.Thursday pertaining to Friday’s play or lack thereof.
4. By 5:00 p.m. Thursday send out a finaldeclaration for the weekend’s tournament play to ALL DIVISIONS.
Some things I recommend to you.
1. Prepare your discs for snow golf if youprefer. PROVIDED SNOW AND OR ICE IS ONTHE GROUND, the following rule will be applied:
813.01 Illegal Disc, Section D. When night or snow play has beenannounced by the Director, players are allowed to add a material or device toassist in finding the disc.
2. Review and familiarize yourself with the ‘lostdisc’ rule. See Rule Below. I’m afraid itwill come into play A LOT. You all, as a group, need to realize the importanceof ‘starting the clock’ if the disc is not immediately spotted when approachingthe lie. With snow on the ground, this likelybe a reoccurring issue, the 3-minute rule MUST be followed closely. 805.03 Lost Disc A disc is declared lost if the player cannot locate it within three minutes after having arrived at the area where it is thought to be. Any player in the group or an Official may begin the timing of the three minutes and must inform the group that the timing has begun. All players in the group must assist in searching for the disc. Failure to do so is a courtesy violation. Once a disc has been declared lost, the status does not change if subsequently found. A player is allowed to use the disc if found. A player whose disc has been declared lost receives one penalty throw. The next throw is made from the previous lie. If a drop zone has been designated for lost discs on the hole, the player may throw from the drop zone instead of from the previous lie. If it is discovered prior to the completion of the tournament that a player's disc that had been declared lost had been removed or taken prior to it being declared lost, then two throws are subtracted from the player's score for that hole. If a drop zone has been provided for lost discs, the Director may allow players to proceed directly to the drop zone at the cost of two penalty throws. Section 805.03 does not apply if a disc is considered to be out-of-bounds (see 806.02.C).
