Hello! Thank you very much for your interest in our second annual Ice Bowl in Pittsford. I'm sure you know that arranging a tournament can be daunting, lots of variables to consider and prepare for. One of those is player registration. We opened that up this year on December 3, allowing a month and a half for promotion and registration. On the admin side of things it throws the whole benefit of digital registration and planning out the window to try and manually add someone after the close of entry. Since this IS a charity event, the committee has discussed your request (you are NOT the only one asking btw) has been approved with a penalty condition. You have two hours to make a donation in the amount of $100 to the Food Shelf through our event Gofundme, then you will be allowed to register and participate in the shenanigans on Saturday.
Thank you again for your interest, I await your reply

To be fair, the registration close date could be easily misinterpreted. At a glance it looked like it would be closing tonight at midnight as opposed to last night. Not sure why adding someone in is being gatekept by paying more money when people are easily added in to PDGA events after registration closes all the time.

Not sure how it could be misinterpreted. It said Jan 16th at 12am. To me, that's this morning. This is just like any other tournament with a close date. If you miss it, you miss it. Don't expect special treatment. You're afforded the opportunity to still play by donating more to a great cause. If you choose not to, that's up to you. Personally, I feel like an opportunity to still sign up shouldn't even be an option since there was a month and a half to sign up and you waited til the 11th and a half hour. Try harder next time and quit bitching!

Gonna be honest, it' weird to be condescending and strict to interested players looking to play in a charity event when your own about section just left out an entire word on when registration closes. "We are closing registration for this at midnight on order to have time to put everything together so register early! " Midnight on what? Many tournaments end registration at the end, not the start, of the Thursday before, so confusion is understandable.
Everett Secor Jan 17, 2025Michael, there was also a month and a half to advertise the event on social media pages other than the course page so folks knew about it, but that didn't happen.

It's been all over fb and Instagram for 6 weeks, bub. Lumberjack Disc Golf, Pittsford Rec, and countless others shared it. Even Chris Young shared it and he runs HIS OWN ice bowl. Sounds like you aren't following the right pages. It takes a lot to put on an event like this and you have to make hard choices sometimes. Criticism vs taking responsibility for one's own actions never helps.

To say this wasn't promoted is simply disingenuous. Some people showed up late and we're unable to participate for one reason or another. There should be no hard feelings. We had a simply fantastic event, and will again next year.
