For age based divisions, you can always play in a lower age based division (since even if you're 65, you're also above the age of 50). Turning 60 doesn’t disqualify you from playing MA50, or even MA40. These sorts of changes are typically due to people wanting to have more competition versus playing in a smaller division or all by themselves, plus some events don’t offer the full range of age based divisions. On the face of it, a 60 year old shouldn't have an advantage over a 50 year old, but in a game of skill like disc golf we know not all people have the same skill levels just based on age so it’s not perfect but it’s the rules from the PDGA.
