Thanks to all who came and played this year, we enjoyed having you here. Congrats to all the winners except that Joe Luloff, just kidding nice playoff win using the entire street.
Thanks to Showcase Disc Golf for donating $50 to women which I added $50 to the pro women which we never got any so I added it into am women.
Thanks Josh Battazzi and Goliath Discs for donating a bunch of discs that went into the women and juniors players packs. Go to Goliathdiscs.com and use my code CCLARING10 for 10% discount on discs.
Thanks to Amanda Beery and the Des Moines Metro Disc Golf Club for the discs and clothing donations which also went in the women/junior players packs.
Thanks to Jay Yeti for hooking up with the sweet EDGE packs.
Thanks to Innova Discs for the discs that you all got for free.
Thanks to Henry DiscinDingus Uken for cooking FREE lunch for everyone.
Thanks to Titan Disc Golf for doing the am payouts. Thanks to Matt Schlabach for helping me get the payouts finalized so they could have them at the shop.
Thanks to my wife Nicole for putting up with this for 20 years and my daughter Kassandra Claring for helping transport stuff.
We had 129 players total for both days, but only 7 women.
We raised $543 for Educational Disc Golf Experience (EDGE) which I rounded up to $600. Thanks to everyone who donated to such a good cause. My event had been part of the EDGE program since very early on.
As I hinted at earlier about not running this event next year is still up in the air. If I do it may go back to just a one day event and separate out the women to an event by themselves. The wife and I have always run this event to give back to the disc golf community and we enjoy it.
I've kept the entry fee low so it doesn't cost one a lot to play. I make no money on this event and in fact this year cost me a whole bunch as it was the 20th year and wanted to make it special. Spent $1700 on discs, added $480 across all the Pro fields. The shelter and course fee are $310 each day which is why I charge the $4/person fee to cover some of that cost. $200 in snacks and water and Ink to print Joe Luloff score cards...lol Ryan Fielder here are some of the numbers we talked about briefly.
The biggest disappointment I have this year was the lack of disc vendors that did not donate anything to the women or for that fact did not even respond to my messages. I've always been a huge fan of promoting women disc golf and donate money/stuff to various women events throughout the year and will always continue to do so as long as I am able to.
Time for bed, sorry about such a long post.
