Tournament Final Results Information:
I've been running tournaments for 10 years and have done over 100 events. In all that time I haven't remotely experienced anything like what has happened today. I've already have had one call with the PDGA about how to handle this and will likely have another.
To be clear, the tall grass for Round 2 was safe for all players on all holes.
I need to know if you were unaware of this prior to teeing off on any of the holes 1-4, 17 or 18. If so, I need to know what holes you were unaware. Such as, you found out on hole 1 and played 17 and 18 as if the tall grass was OB. Or, you found out on hole 4 and played holes 1, 2, and 3 as if it was OB.
After I gather this information, I will then, with the help of the PDGA, adjust scores of the affected holes and divisions, and will then post the offiicial results.
You have until Sunday evening to inform me on if and how this affected you.
On Monday, I will proceed with the information I have and tabulate the final results, winners, and payouts.
Please be patient with me as I try to be as fair as possible given how this has affected different people in different ways.
Thank you,
Rob Martin
Maverick Disc Golf
For the non-event readers, we played a course where 6 holes had very tall grass play as out of bounds. Ten minutes before the start of round 2 on a shotgun start, at least two and reports of four different farm tractors began cutting the tall grass down with swather so that the tall grass could dry and then be baled. Most of the players were already on the course and while multiple forms of communication were sent out informing them that the tall grass will now be safe (because the OB line would be actively changing with each pass of the farm tractor), not all of the players received the information at the same time. This resulted in some players playing the hole as if there was OB and other cards playing the hole as if it wasn't OB. It took nearly an hour to run through the proper channels of contacting the park department's off-duty supervisor, who then contacted the park police, to then get the tractors to stop working while there were players on the course.
