Good evening Rebecca. Registration for the Sandy Hollow Open first opened on April 19th, where we had protected 12 spots in the MJ18 division and held those spots (including many female and age protected spots) for 2 weeks. At which time those unfilled spots were given to players on waitlists in divisions that filled up quickly. Disc golf events in Ontario tend to fill very quickly, and we post the yearly event schedules and registration dates starting in January for the upcoming season. With this event being a provincial qualifying event, and having been running now for many years, our event had over 180 registrants in a matter of hours after the registration opened. As much as I would love to open up an infinite amount of spots to all players that want to come play (we have 8 players on the waitlist) we have a full field of 201 players right now. With being less than a month out from the event, and registration being open for over 4 months now, we will unfortunately not be opening up any additional spots in any divisions and we are just trying to fill the last few spots in a couple divisions to make even cards of 4 for each division. I am so sorry for not being able to help, but if you sign him up on the waitlist, there is a small chance someone in the junior division could drop out between now and the event and your son could fill that spot, but with you having to book accommodations and flights, that may not be the best option as we don't generally get a ton of drop outs this close to the event. I suggest checking out the Ontario event schedule on Disc Golf Scene starting in January as the events tend to secure their dates fairly early in the year, with some events having their registration open as early as the first week or two of the year.
