KDGC membership is $30/year and all of it goes back to supporting the growth of the sport. Any event that is held on a KDGC maintained course is charge a green fee of $5-$10/player and that is to cover the maintenance of the course. For example...the City paid for new tee pads and baskets at Rose Hill but the club did the rest! Purchase of a ride-a-mower, push mower, weed whacker, chainsaw, hole auger...all the club's expenses. Fuel and/or batteries for this equipment...all the club's expenses. Fuel for the volunteers vehicles that do the Home Depot runs, dump runs, gravel and fill runs...all the club's expenses. Concrete blocks for tee signs? Yup! Club expense. The beautifucation of Rose Hill, Logan Lake, Westsyde and Mac Island are all Club expenses! For most events, like TCO, the club will donate in-kind or cash back to the event to financially assist the TD's to help make it a success. So, when you play League, Doubles or small club charity events, you'll notice that fee isn't there. But for PDGA sanctioned events, where there are guidelines and expectations for course prep, it's a small cost to pay.

From Thomas Griffin: "Great question Stuart! For courses that the KDGC has stewardship over, there is a green fee for tournaments that are hosted on the courses. The Green Fee does a couple important things. 1: Tournament-specific costs, like signage, pin locations and movement, tournament-specific markers, flags, paint, etc. are all covered. 2: (and more importantly) The green fees go back into the courses for upkeep and improvements. All of our courses are in need of - and are receiving, significant investment in upkeep and improvements, and this is largely in part because of the green fee program in place for the last 3 years.
The $30 KDGC membership Fee does help with course costs, but the membership fees primarily go to running our club, including; events, websites, Insurances, membership swag, etc.
Note, the Green fee program only applies to tournament events. All of our courses are free to play at all other times."
Brett Hanna Jul 19, 2024Couple board members have chimed in. Hopefully that clears things up a bit Stuart!
Stuart Dromarsky Jul 20, 2024Glad to help an evolving course. Appreciate the response. Thanks
