Is the “no refunds” comment directed only at Ams here? I was under the assumption pros can be 100% refunded before August 1 if I’m unable to swing this trip.

Yes, this is for amateurs as I can’t get this money back. Pros are good to go. With the exception of apparel and $10 refund handling fee. Sorry for the scare!
