Last I recall on the details, ratings are always based on the group playing a particular layout, so comparison between layouts is not related to course difficulty overall, but to the way THAT group played the course THAT day. So a -7 from the longs TODAY was not as 'strong' a round, relative to the comparable field. It happens.

Yep.. layouts are per group and the propagators. I noticed last week at the hambrick ratings from the ma50 players all playing shorts was considerably higher than MA40 which played a couple of rounds on long tees... albeit on different days. Top several in MA40 averaged like 930... top several in MA50 averaged 960
