The safety of everyone at PDGA-sanctioned events is of paramount importance. TDs are highly encouraged to make use of all available resources such as lightning detectors and online weather maps (that display storms and lightning strikes moving into the area) in order to suspend play before conditions become dangerous to the players, staff, and spectators. (see PDGA Mid-Event Suspension & Cancellation Policy)
If, in the opinion of the Tournament Director, lightning, excessive rain or hazardous conditions exist that make it impractical or dangerous to continue play, the tournament shall be suspended. The signal to suspend play shall be made in the same fashion as the signal to start, but using three short blasts. These blasts should be repeated at least once within one minute and the Tournament Director should make any necessary efforts to ensure all groups can hear the signal.

There was a very similar forecast for the final round of the recent 303 Open, and it turned out to be a gorgeous day for disc golf!
If we do experience hazardous conditions during the event, we will announce a suspension of play with 3 SHORT BLASTS FROM AN AIR HORN.
Players will need to:
- Mark their current lie with a mini and then place a rock and/or log on top of it. (A natural marker is also acceptable - just tell your cardmates.)
- Get back to their cars ASAP.
- We will then wait until it is safe to resume play and allow enough time for all players to return to their position on the course.
- Play will resume with a 2 minute warning announced with 2 SHORT BLASTS from an air horn and then 1 LONG BLAST to start play.
We will be tracking weather from the pro shop and while the weather on the course may be fine, if a dangerous lightning storm is headed our way, we will act with the safety of all players in mind.
