I played Battle at Bridgewater last year and told several people in the valley that want to play this year to prepare for AZ States, is there no way to plan this event another day that doesn’t have two big events already scheduled?? (Bigfoot Fling & Lemmon Drop)

June is very dead for tournaments in AZ. Would love to be able play in this event again this year. I’m sure others in the valley share the same sentiment

Two weeks will not make much difference. Scheduling a tournament when 150+ disc golfers in AZ have already registered and committed to other tournaments that have been scheduled out for months is not conducive to having a great turnout.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depends on how you look at it, for disc golfers there will almost always be another tournament within a 300-mile radius on any given weekend to go play. So scheduling will always have some other tournament conflict. The weekend of May 24 is treebash, then the next weekend of june 1, LaMirada summer classic. Both within 300 miles of lake havasu. So now we are into june and you have masters worlds in kansas. Again there will almost always be a conflict, just think of this as a good thing to be availble to have so many oppertunities to go play.

Mercedes and Graham put a TON of time and effort into these tournaments. And this one especially because it's on a ball golf course. I highly doubt just "changing the date" is as easy as you think. This venue/course also hosts private events such as weddings. So suggesting that they change the dates 2 days before registration opens is just preposterous

Hi Loga, Graham here, Co-TD. I wish we could have looked at other dates! It is unfortunate we overlap with some other fantastic AZ tournaments, and from personal experience I know the Lemmon Drop is a killer time. Unfortunately with venue availability, large events on both sides of our weekend, and being far western AZ and catering to Vegas and Southern California as much as mainland AZ we didn't have the flexibility. Also as mentioned earlier by Chris, unfortunately June is a brutal stretch in Havasu. Believe it or not we usually outheat the rest of the state by a large margin, even the Phoenix area. A June event (if the venue were available at the time) would be a huge risk in both player turnout and safety, with May already kicking a lot of player's butts in the potential and likely heat. It's both a blessing and a curse that the AZ disc golf scene is so strong these days, but especially in those months right before the conditions are so intense.

Graham, I remember meeting you last year, thanks for replying. Disappointed I won’t be able to make it out this year, was planning on coordinating an entire crew to all come up to experience what I believe is one of the most enjoyable courses in AZ people haven’t played. We’ll wait for AZ states… please push for getting get us 2 rounds @ Bridgewater !!
