In response to a question posed earlier today, since deleted, but that I wanted others to see, regarding the ratings cap change:
When we first opened registration on Groundhog Day we had ratings caps that are lower than they are now to encourage players to sign up. This was an effort to ensure regional players had a chance to sign up early, support the event and help plan their seasons. We are truly excited by the volume of players that signed up and that gives us the confidence to commit more resources to enhancing player and spectator experience. As we did design the Diameter Open to be a top tier event for touring pros we made the decision to raise the cap again earlier this week for the pro divisions so that spots would still be available when they start finalizing their schedules and look for high caliber events for the ‘off weeks’ on the DGPT. The Diameter Open is on the ‘off week’ between DGLO and the GMC, and geographically is halfway between the two, and has TPWDGC and USDGC spots up for grabs. This will be one of the final qualifiers of the year for the USDGC and TPWDGC. We expect more touring pros to sign up in the near future once the DGPT gets started and players look towards the end of the season and realize this event will be an ideal opportunity to visit Canada, play a great event, win some cash, try for a USDGC and TPWDGC spot and develop their fan base north of the border.
