Good afternoon and Happy Thanksgiving! I am super excited that you signed up to be part of our Crossover Troy's Twisted Triples at Woodland Mound on "Black Friday" (11/24). Troy Ison is our inspiration for this event. We have been using his input and advice for the event.
This will be a 2 round, non-PDGA event. We will all shotgun start at 9a. Check in will start around 820a across from hole 1. ONLY 1 PERSON PER TEAM NEEDS TO CHECK IN. Just send over someone to check your team in, and we will be good to go.
We will not have a players meeting. Once you check in and see your hole assignment, you may head to your hole. We will be using the old school big board with paper cards to track scores.
If you are not sure of the format an rules, please ask for clarification when you check in.
The format will be like this:
Round 1
Holes 1-6 - Worst
Holes 7-12 - Middle/Goldilocks
Holes 13-18 -Best
Round 2
Holes 1-6 - True Worst
Holes 7-12 - Alternate
Holes 13-18 - Best 1 disc only
Let's break this down a little bit....
Goldilocks - Everyone throws and your opponent will select your "best" disc of the 3. Your team then selects the Goldilocks or middle disc. What determines the middle? Your team does. You obviously aren't going to pick the worst disc.
Best - Everyone throws and then your team selects the "best" disc to play for your team.
True Worst - Everyone throws and then your opponent will select the "worst" disc. Your team plays from it and throws again. Repeat process until in the basket. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS TRUE WORST DISC. What does that mean? It means when you go to putt out, all players must make the putt. Say Player A putts from 15 feet and makes it. Player B an C then miss. The team then goes to the worst disc between Player B and C. Say 2 players make it and one player misses. They all play from the missed disc until ALL 3 players make it from the same spot.
Worst - Everyone tees off and then the worst disc is selected. If someone makes the shot from there the hole is over. If not, the worst disc is again selected until the hole is over. An ACE does end the hole.
Alternate - On those holes you identify who is player A, B and C. When you get to the alternate holes, player A goes first, then player B, then player C, then back to A. So for instance, on the first hole of Alternate, player A tees off. Player B makes the putt. Player C would then tee off on the next hole, and and player A would go next. (if your shotgun start is in the middle of these holes, when you return back around to them, please remember who's turn it is to throw)
Best 1 Disc Only - Each player plays these holes with 1 disc. So each player has their own disc, and can only play these holes with that selected disc. It is "best disc" using those 1 discs.
Please note, if an ACE is hit on any of the formats, the hole is over and the team cards a 1.
With doing a shotgun start, make sure you are at your hole by 858p when we will yell "two minutes". Please be aware that the course is not shut down for this event, so be mindful and considerate of casuals who may be on the course.
We are playing a friendly course with no OB.
Here is the schedule of events. The schedule will look like this:
820-850a - Player Check In
9a - Shotgun Start Round 1
@1130a - Lunch break (we will try to give an hour, but that depends on pace of play...so don't play slow if you want a full lunch break lol)
@1230-2p Round 2
There will be an ACE fund, and 2 CTP's per round. We will let you know in the morning the CTP holes. If no one hits an ACE during the round, we will do a throw off, and the winner will take home the cash.
The ADVANCED division is the only division competing for CASH. The others will compete for Crossover Cash. With the entry fee being $10 a person, which includes the ACE fund and CTP's, the payouts will be smaller. For this event, we will pay out the top 33% of each division.
Even though it is a non-PDGA event, we will still follow the PDGA rules for the event as far as making calls on discs and such.
It's going to be a fun event. Again, we are excited that you are going to join us.
See you Friday!
