PDGA is $50 a year. PDGA-sanctioned tournaments (majority of tournaments) send $10 per person to the PDGA. If you aren't a member of the PDGA, you'll have to cough up an extra $10 to play in sanctioned tournaments. Obviously, if you plan to play more than 5 a year, you'll save money. Benefits... PDGA stores your scores, calculates your ratings (a measurement of your skill level), keeps track of your ratings, tournaments you've played, and provides a generally accepted set of rules that allows disc golf to be played the same the world over. First time you sign up, you get a disc. I'm sure I'm missing some stuff.
