Tournament Thoughts...
This is the first tournament that I have been to where the temperature was above 70 degrees without multiple water stations across the course, and it was 110 degrees at this event! The TRRP course was very rough, which we were warned about but I don't think anyone expected it to be that rough. Then to have no spotters in the condition that course was in seemed reckless. It caused for an extremely slow round in the 110 degree heat with very limited water access. I hope no one had any heat illness issues.
The communication leading up to and during the tournament was lack luster. No mention of who would get paid out in what divisions must have slipped through the cracks. As well as the fact there was no mention of having different tee times for the second round any where or in any email as well. I read through all 5 emails I was sent and never saw a word mentioning second round start times. There was also no mention of it on the about page on discgolfscene. Maybe I wasn't on the correct email list? Every tournament I have played in before has done one if not two or three of the following: 1) emailed players the start time of the second round after the first round 2) had second round start times mentioned in the about page on discgolfscene(Like... Round 2 will start 1 hour after the last card finishes Round 1) 3)made a comment of the second round start time on discgolfscene in the comment section.
Lastly, after seeing the trophies I'm glad I didn't place. I bet I speak for many disc golfers when I say I like to display my trophies to remind me of the special events from the past, why else would they hand them out? Had I placed I wouldn't have displayed that trophy. Even if I wanted to the sticker showing the tournament was constantly falling off, which would have left me with half a mini toy grenade and some spray painted writing on a 99 cent canvass.
I don't claim to be a disc golf tournament expert having only played disc golf for a couple years. But I have participated in about 10 tournaments at mostly the B and C tier level and this one seemed to miss the mark in multiple ways. I hope this helps solve potential issues at any future events!
