Good Evening Darren, it comes down to how to players with similar ratings play on each layout while keeping in mind overall pace of play on the course. Both Picnic and Cypress have a massive differential in difficulty from shorts to longs for the vast majority of players rated 880 - 930 (generally your MA2 and MA50 players). Moving either division to longs for either course creates a massive shift in the scoring and increases the length of the round by about 30 mins. We have tried it in the past, and it failed miserably. This is the main reason we put the pad assignments and layouts out well in advance of registering so people can make an informed decision about playing our events or the divisions they choose to enter.
