Team 0 also intentionally signed up without using their pdga numbers and a fake last name for the son. They did the same thing last year took 2 after losing a playoff and using fake last names and No PDGA numbers at registration.

One half team Smoke Trees, my partner and I were completely blind in playing this tournament yesterday. New to scene only recognize a couple faces from past tournaments. But we couldn't help but hear the rumors surrounding this team's ability and how they shouldn't be allowed to compete in this division. Curiosity took over on the 2 plus hour ride home and sure I could look up the father, but found it odd that no record of a PDGA member for the son. Rules and these limits were made for this specific reason, to protect those at different skill level and these two both clearly knew what they were doing to get around it. All for mini and basket that they would've earned even if they played Advanced like they should have. I for one respect Greg Handley for having the knowledge and willingness to publicly shed light on this entire situation.

While that is definitely sandbagging at its finest, , no rules were broken as you all know this was a non-sanctioned event as it clearly states in the “about” section, meaning TDs and players are not held to those standards for this event.

The other half of Smoke Trees here, I echo these concerns. The tournament was run fairly well overall. Like all tournaments there's room for improvement (like the tee pads for White Lightning), but this issue will make me reconsider coming back next year. I'll come back for the awesome card mates we had and the challenging courses, but if I see these two signed up for intermediate/rec again, I will not be making the drive. Thanks Greg for starting the conversation on here

I spent several hours twice checking PDGA numbers and names to see if they had PDGA numbers to check the ratings. My question is if they’re using fake names with no pdga numbers then how is that our fault? When people come to us in the heat of doing pay out and tell us that they were in the playoffs last year and I look and don’t see their names on there then what am I supposed to do? I will not be defending myself anymore after this point. All I can do is apologize and try to do better next year!

I do wanna say one more thing! I 100% agree that they should not have been playing the am division when the last three years both of them have been playing advanced! I can say that they will not be allowed to play the Am division any more! and the karma is on them!

Kim, first off, thank you and your crew for running a successful and overall fun tournament. I've never run a tournament, but can't imagine it's an easy thing to do. So, thank you for the work you do and keeping on top of communication. Secondly, I think ultimately we wanted to (A) make sure you were aware of the issue and (B) see if there was something in the future that could be done to mitigate this in the future. From our perspective, we weren't sure how much due diligence was done to verify player skill level. Thank you for shedding some light on that and thank you for the work you put in. Ultimately the best you can do is just keep their names and aliases on a watch list for next year. My intention was not to blame you for the issue this year, but to make you aware of the issue and open a line of conversation to mitigate the issue in the future. The impression I got from the scores announcement was that the issue was recognized, but nothing was to be done about it. So, thank you again for the work you all put into this tournament and I look forward to playing in it next year!

Dakota Benton I found your ability absolutely impressive and the point you’re still a kid shows you haven’t peaked yet so go for the top. The issues is that you have PDGA numbers that were not used while signing up or using your real names. Last year you guys played under the name “Sweeney”. I don’t remember what you registered under in 2021. Dakota I can honestly say it took everything that me and my partner could do to hang with you which we took as an accomplishment on its own. Bottom line you are an absolute smoke show on your own.
