Winter Wizard Announcement!!
Hello everyone. I wanted to do one last update prior to the event tomorrow. I know I have fielded some questions concerning the possibility of rescheduling. The event will not be rescheduled. I apologize if there are participants who feel uncomfortable playing in the cold temperatures and understand if anyone would like to just pick up there pack and decline to actually play, but the event will be happening as scheduled.
Speaking of the schedule, as previously mentioned in past posts and on DG scene, I do reserve the right to drop the event from 2 rounds to 1. As of now, we still have 2 rounds scheduled, but I am open to the prospect of cutting the event down if the majority feels more comfortable with a single round rather than a full day. If you would like to see the event dropped to 1 round, please feel free to comment below, message me or let me know tomorrow morning. I will make a game time decision at the player meeting prior to the event and alert everyone.
As far as the order of events tomorrow. A reminder that player check in will be from 815-845. At around 8:50 we will bring it in for the player meeting and at 9:00am we will tee. We will be using paper cards for tomorrows event, which I will pass out at the player meeting. If you have any questions about the schedule, please let me know ASAP. If you have a last second card request, please notify me right away. I will NOT take card requests the morning of the event and am already planning on posting the cards on DG scene later today.
I wanted to go over the rules. This is a player pack event so the 2 Wizard putters you get in the player pack will be the only putt/approach discs you are allowed to carry. Aside from those 2 discs, you are allowed 2 more discs of your choosing. Those 2 additional discs must be 5 speed or faster. You can have 2 drivers or 2 mids or mix it up, as long as they are 5 speed or faster. If you have any other questions on the rules of the event, let me know or we can address at the players meeting.
Lastly, I wanted to take another moment to truly express my gratitude to all those who signed up for this event. Because of everyone registered, we will be able to donate $1000 to The Alex Pichette Memorial Foundation, which happens to be a charity that is extremely close to me and means the world. I hope everyone has a great time and would be willing to come back again next year and beyond. I also want to thank the wonderful owners of Spartan Discs who already do so much for the disc golf community and have graciously donated $5 coupons to their amazing store. After the event, everyone is encouraged to head over to their amazing north towns complex on Main St. in Tonawanda (right next to Colosso Taco) for hot cocoa, putting and maybe a little spending on some fresh new plastic.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow as we brave these frigid temps together! As El Presidente, Jeremy Hoeltke always says “FIRE IT UP!”
