HI Kevin, I don't speak for the TDs but was thinking about it when I saw the MA4 request. I love playing the Gunks course but think it could be tough for novice players. With the shotgun start, a novice card could play somewhat slowly which could delay lunch start and event conclusion... especially at the Gunks when there are leaves and there could be snow. That said, I agree that new players should have opportunities to get into competitive play.

Kevin, coming from a TD perspective, I don't see it as a hesitancy, but more of demand. If I had 4 honest MA4 requests I’d fill a card with them. Personally, I think that if someone has been out on a course a few times, or played some doubles, and has the confidence to sign up for a tournament then their level of play would most likely be lower MA3. I think a true MA4 event would need a different format then a regular tournament. Especially at the Gunks course
