Thanks for the response. Little confused. First tournament here (well, maybe I guess). What should the plan be for round 2? Ensure we score the same in round 1 so we can be on the same card in round 2? Find another guardian to chaperone round 2? Don’t imagine Grandma is going to be up for a 2 hour hike. Any harm in abandoning my 2nd round so I can chaperone his?

I'm not sure what your plan should/would be for round 2. I was just explaining that per the PDGA rules, your 8 year old son will need a chaperone/guardian for round two unless you are somehow on the same card again. If you decide to drop so that you can chaperone his round, no issue with that.
