Hello! This email will serve as the players’ meeting for the Ironman tournament tomorrow. It is long and has important new information, so please read it.
Thank you all for registering for Ironman this year. We appear to be lucking out with a cold front coming through so the high temperature for the day should only be 90 degrees!! Please remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
First things first: There has been a huge change to the course order for the day, as the Parks Department just informed me that they will not open the park gates at Sioux before 7am, at the earliest. This is 100% my bad, a total oversight on my part and I apologize for the last-minute change of plans.
That means we can’t have check-in at Sioux hole 1 starting at 6am. In light of this, I will be set up at Hudson at 5:45am instead of at Sioux. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FULL CARD OF 4, PLEASE PLAN TO BEGIN AT HUDSON. That way we’ll be able to group you with others more easily. If you’ve got a full card of 4 already, you can begin at the course of your choosing, except for White Birch which must be your final 19 holes. If you are not starting the day at Hudson, please check in with either me or Jeremy by text before you start to let me know which course you’re starting on and who is on the card with you. You should plan to play with the same cardmates for the entire 100 holes. If players on your card start dropping or deciding not to continue, please text either me or Jeremy to let us know. If others are on the same course schedule you are, we’ll try to pair you up with them.
You will use UDisc for all scoring, and all of the courses are set up already under the Events tab as “Dark Ace League – Ironman [insert course name].” So you’ll have 5 separate UDisc scorecards for the day.
We will use regular OB rules for each course, with the exception being that tall grass at Briscoe will play as IN BOUNDS. On or over concrete is OUT OF BOUNDS, except at Carrollton where the road is the OB line and not the sidewalk. If you have any questions or need clarification, please either call or text me or Jeremy.
Dark Ace will be set up at White Birch to finish the day, so be sure to stick around and check out the latest gear. New shirt designs and plastic molds will be available, and you’ll definitely need a new shirt or two after sweating through 100 holes tomorrow!
Thank you all again for playing tomorrow! Please be mindful of your pace of play throughout the day, and to rehydrate with actual 100% water often. Those 94% waters are mighty tasty, but they’ll be waiting for you as you enter the home stretch. We’ll have coolers at Hudson with water and snacks to start and will be moving around to the other courses during the day with more water to help everyone make it to the finish line. If you have any questions, please let us know. Have fun tomorrow!
