For my event last weekend I had players drop out as late as the night before that I attempted to replace. Waitlist players are not obligated to take a spot in the field, but even if you don't make it in you can show up the morning of the event to see if there were any late drops that haven't been filled.

Keep an eye on your email. You will get an email from discgolfsceene saying that you have been promoted if you make it in. Make sure to update your registration using the link from that email if you receive it and plan to play.
