You get 1 extra throw per hole. You can use it for a second drive, upshot, or putt. When you use it, you can still decide to go from your first throw if you want. However, once you use it, you lose it (even if you take your first shot). The extra throw doesn’t roll over to the next hole, even if you don’t use it.
