The Last BC Open in 2019 that we run was an A Tier, and we had both MA1 and MPO play from the gold. There was a great deal of discussion about this and we did it as a test. When we looked at the results the top MA1 would not have been in the top 20 so it was decided that Non Pro Div would be playing Blue Pads this year. When you look at the PDGA guideline for what Div people should play in https://www.pdga.com/pdga-documents/tour-documents/divisions-ratings-and-points-factors It suggests that MA1 should be rated 935+, and in the current field of 30 players registered for MA1 only 18 actually have ratings and of those 18 only 3 are above 935. Although we could have had that field play off Gold for a more enjoyable event for most and for speed of play a decision for blue pads was made.
