Greetings Everyone!
The Camp Catalpa Par 2 event is scheduled for this Saturday between 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. It is currently a "Flex-Start" meaning you can show up and play a round whenever you want. You will be required to play with at least 1 other player for the round or have someone with you who is verifying your round as well. If you do not have a group already to play with. I encourage you to just show up between 11-3 and I will find a card or other players to join along with you for the round. If you want a specific time to play with others, if you reach out to me (not reply all), I will schedule a time for you to meet up with a group as well. There are no limits on how large of a group you can play with if you have a bunch of people coming with. Just know it may take you a bit longer to play through the course. I played the course by myself in about 45 minutes for reference.
Parks and Rec has blocked off the large pavilion in the park for us and I will be set up there around 10:30 for you to all grab your players packs. There is another pavilion in use Saturday and I was told we could park in the grass if necessary.
There will be CTP holes set up throughout the course and an additional $5 Ace Pool if you want to get into that available as well. I would expect multiple Aces Saturday! If no one hits an ace on Saturday, the pool will be split 50/50. Half going towards The Clash at Catalpa Presented by Bang A Chain (Aug 22) to increase payouts and the other half going to a random drawing of those who entered. If you are unfamiliar with CTP's (closest to the pin), there will be a flag on some holes that you will write your name on if you have the closest throw to the pin on the hole from the tee box. This flag will hold in place until someone beats it going through all players on Saturday. At the end there will be an additional prize for whomever that is. The CTP's are at no additional cost.
After your round, there is a Par 2 REPLAY option available as well. This means for $5, you can replay the course again and try and best your previous score. Your lowest round being the one that counts. If you think this is an option for you, show up earlier in the day so you will have time to play as many rounds as you would like.
Prizes will be awarded after the all the cards have come in and the last tee time being at 3pm. I would expect this to be around 4 or earlier... maybe later... If you are not able to stick around all day though, I will get your prizes/payout to you, so you do not have to be there at the end of the day or feel pressured to stick around.
The whole 18 hole Par 2 Course is marked right now with orange flags. On the day of the event there will also be some directional indicators to help navigate as well. The image attached gives you an idea for the current layout with all holes now falling under 150-200'. The goal is some aces! Let's see who's got 'em loaded and ready to pop. I would expect hole 18 on this map to change as well.
There are many holes that come near walkways that are not normally in play while playing the regular course. I urge everyone to yield to anyone walking the trails or using the park amenities. There's no rush and this should be a great event for everyone!
Anyone with questions reach out to me and see you all Saturday!
