I'll stick to this as best I can. But you know how tournaments can go.
Getting here
This event takes place at Lions Park in Meadow Lake, about 160km north of North Battleford. The entrance to the park is near the museum off highway 4. Players meeting takes place near the canteen.
The course
Lions Park Disc Golf Course is a 9 hole course with one of a kind targets. These targets were welded together by the local shop class and you will see they provide a unique challenge of play. We have done what we can to "upgrade" these targets so that discs do not fall through the bottom.
For the tournament each target will have 2 alternate tee locations for front 9 and back 9. Tee off areas will be marked with flagging and landscaping paint.
Procedures of play
I have no curve balls planned as far as rules go. Everything explained here will be covered at the players meeting.
-Scorekeeping will be done on UDisc. Players will need to "check in" on the app. If you do not have the app another player with the app can check in for you.
-Groups will be flexible for both rounds. I don't want to force anyone out of their bubble.
-You will be expected to play both rounds with the provided player's packs. And this looks like a sweet player's pack!
-Shot gun start for both rounds. I've never seen more than 30 people play on this course at once. I'm a little worried it may get congested in parts. Your patience is appreciated.
-All walking paths are OB. The "touching grass" rule and "take your meter" rule apply here. If OB your lie is from where your disc crossed OB. There is a slight exception to this on hole #11. This plays as an island tee. You must cross the path on your drive. If not, the other tee area for this target (hole #2) is the drop zone. After successfully crossing over the path it is then considered OB if you cross back over it.
-I'm still rounding up prizes but we will have a number of in-play games for divisions such as longest drive, longest putt, and CTP.
-Bring $5 for the ACE POT!
Food
Lots to choose from around town. City Convenience has offered to supply some lunch options for those not interested in driving for food. If you are interested in ordering from City Convenience I will have order forms available in the morning during registration. They will pick up the order forms in the morning and drop off your meal at the park for lunch time. They accept cash, debit, credit.
Glow disc!
Lot's of you are camping overnight here. So of course we have to get some glow disc in. For those of you who are coming up on Friday I will be setting up lights that night for some unofficial glow disc. If some of you are staying Saturday as well I'm doing an official glow disc event that I have opened up to the public to come and try it out. This event is to spark more local interest in the sport. I am relying on you guys to be ambassadors to the sport and show these locals how much fun this game can be. BRING YOUR GLOW LIGHTS!
